Cinco De Mayo Supermoon

Wow, talk about worlds colliding! Today it is not only a supermoon, which means that the moon is full and all close to earth at the same time, but it is also Cinco de Mayo, the fifth of May, which is the American celebration of the Mexican heritage. Many people think it's Mexico's independence day, but it's not... Mexicans celebrate it as the victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla... I call it an excuse to have margaritas.

So what will happen when the supermoon and Cinco de Mayo collide? I predict a lot of people will get super drunk and do super crazy things. At least that is what I think. The full moon, in my opinion makes things a little crazy... either that or the people in my life just set their crazy clock in alignment with the full moon. Coincidence? I think not.

But whether you are crazy about the moon or crazy about Mexican culture, one thing we can all agree on today is that we are CRAZY. So today, let your freak flag fly, and if you need a little coaxing just drag your butt to the nearest Mexican restaurant and down a shot of tequila. Liquid courage.... hehe.

If you, like me, are staying in and want something to do in the theme of Mexican moons, I have prepared for you a gem. A recipe. A drink recipe--with tequila. So ladies and gentlemen, start your engines.... this, is green boots, and they were made for full moon Mexican walking!

Green Boots

Time: 15 minutes if you're full moon crazy | Serves: 2 | Difficulty: Medium Moon Crazy

You will need:

1 cucumber, juiced (which will give you about a half cup of juice)
2 tablespoons honey
4 ounces tequila
dash of salt
1 ounce lime juice

Method

In a shaker filled with ice, combine tequila, lime juice, honey, salt, and 3-4 ounces of the cucumber juice (depending on your taste).

Shake it like a polaroid picture until combined and pour into glasses.

If you wanna get fancy, you can garnish it with two thin slices of cucumber. HOLLA!
