What's Cooking?

It's time again for "What's cooking?" where I take you into my kitchen to show you what I've been cooking! I hope you enjoy a little food porn this Thursday!

Homemade Ice Cream!

Who doesn't love some homemade ice cream?
The usual suspects are lined up and ready to go!

Uh-oh! I realized at the last minute that my whole milk had gone bad.
This is something that is a normal occurrence in my house because I don't like milk....
Instead I used almond milk in place of whole milk.
Good news: it works just as well and gives really nice flavor!!!

Add it all to the ice cream maker and let her go!

At the end, I added some bonafide homemade chocolate chip cookie dough!
It was delicious!

Braised Oxtail Over Goat Cheese Risotto

You might not be familiar with oxtail, but this is what it looks like. It is literally the meat of the tail of a cow... generally not really an ox....
The meat is best braised, and so that is just what I did.

I made up a broth to braise my oxtails in of beef broth, carrots, tomatoes, onions. Basic, simple, but delicious!

I let them braise for several hours and it made the house smell amazing!

I roasted some brussel sprouts to serve alongside.

Once the meat is removed from the bones (well, it practically falls off once it's ready!) it is sort of like a ragu! It is delicious, tender, and the perfect topper for a creamy risotto!

Sausage and Peppers!

Start out with some really pretty peppers. I picked these up (in season) from my awesome farmer neighbor! Aren't they cute?

Fry up your sausages and peppers.

Slap 'em on a bun, and if you are like me, you top them only with mustard and then enjoy!
This is a really cozy meal, if you ask me.
